About Me

Hi spiderling! My name is Patricia Colli, but you can call me Patti. I’m the human behind all this crazy tarantula stuff and the author of The Ultimate Guide to Tarantulas! I’m not an entomologist or tarantula breeder, I’m just a girl who loves tarantulas and loves sharing that with the world. I also have a cat (who is jealous of my tarantula).

You’re probably wondering…how did all of this happen?

It all began with a little Grammostola Rosea named Spidey. She came into my life many years ago and I was never the same. I mean, look at her. So precious!

Spidey the tarantula

Spidey made me into the tarantula activist I was always meant to be. I am always fighting for the fair treatment of these babies and educating people about why they should respect tarantulas’ place in the world. Sometimes I even bring Spidey to schools to educate young children about tarantulas!

I started out with a Tumblr blog so I could store Spidey’s pics – little did I know thousands of people around the world would fall in love with her! I found a great community of other tarantula and spider lovers, too. The more I learned, the more I needed to share. My tarantula obsession has grown into a main tarantula Tumblr blog, a Tarantula Tuesday newsletter, a YouTube channel, a Facebook page, Facebook group, and Instagram! I mean, I even have an Etsy store dedicated to tarantulas!

I promise, I’m not crazy – if you’re a tarantula enthusiast, you know the struggle is real and fully understand my addiction 🙂

Why I made this website

I wanted to share what I have learned over the years of researching tarantulas and caring for my own. When I was just starting out, I had so much trouble finding reliable information. My goal for this site and everything I share is to share my knowledge while also expressing how fun tarantulas can be to even those who are terrified by them.

Along the way I also created a huge tarantula guide, where I put literally everything I have learned all in one place (check it out here!). Many tarantula owners have found it super helpful, so I am very proud of it.

I’m not sure how you found me, but I am so glad you’re here and that you share my love for these creatures. Feel free to sign up for my newsletter so we can keep in touch and share tarantula info!
